We have enjoyed many years of solid church / school partnership, visiting the church for important festivals such as Harvest and Easter, and working in partnership with the previous curate to deliver lessons and booster groups in school.
In September 2023, St John's and St Peter's Church recently appointed Tracy Browne as their new Vicar after 18 months of the interregnum period. As well as sitting on our Local Academy Board, Tracy now leads Tuesday's Collective Worship across the different phases in the school. She also helps us celebrate big Christian celebrations such as Easter and Christmas.
Hello Tracy! Now, you're new to Birmingham... Where did you move from?
I moved from a place in London called the Isle of Dogs!
Do you have any pets?
What's your favourite story in the Bible?
What else do you like?
I love carnivals! The colours, the dancing...
Random one to finish... If you had to be a biscuit, which one would you be and why?
I would be a flapjack, because they're sticky and squidgy!
The Ladywood Interfaith Education Project (LIEP) is based in inner-city Birmingham. Initiated by St John & St Peter’s Parish Church, it is a partnership between four local places of faith since 1999, involving creative educational encounters for classes of school children.
Their aims are to:
Each faith is explored in its own sacred building by volunteer professional teachers and volunteer professional artists of that faith. Teaching and workshops include story, drama, art, music and appreciation of sacred space.
Our Classes visit one or two of the sacred places on a visit, exploring themes in accordance with our RE Syllabus.
